Where are your albums made?

These handmade, fair trade and eco-friendly journals are made by a small family business in Rajasthan, India.

How many pages does the album have and what is it made of?

These albums have 30 pages (60 sides) of handmade acid-free khadda paper, made from recycled cotton (also known as kaddi or khaddi) that has been left over from the massive garment industry in India. They are handmade and don’t contain chemicals as we only use unbleached cotton. The paper is made by a charity in rural Rajasthan that promotes women’s education and their social standing in rural villages.

The pages are interleaved with protective tissue paper to keep all of your most treasured photos safe. The small album can hold up to 60 standard 6x4 inch photos, the medium and large albums can hold up to 120 photos and the XL up to 240 photos. 

How are the albums made?

The saris come from Varanasi, one of the most religious cities in the World and a centre of excellence for sari making. We use new saris as we cannot guarantee the cleanliness of recycled saris and cannot always get the correct styles and designs.

The pages have been bound by hand, so they are strong and perfect for travelling.

What can I use the albums for?

This album is also perfect to use as a scrapbook, art book, and the paper is great for water colour painting.

Photos can be added using photo corners, which are available in any good photography shop, spray mount or simple glue.

Anything else I should know?

Due to the handmade nature of these products colour and designs may slightly vary but loveliness comes as standard.

Please note we do not advise using a fountain pen with this type of handmade paper as the ink may spread.
