Cosmetically, refreshed. Please see description., Brand: Singer, Model: 66K, MPN: Y5827705, Class: Household, Type: Sewing, Features: Bobbin-Winding, Operation: Mechanical, Country/Region of Manufacture: United Kingdom, Detalles: Iconic 1928 Singer 66K sewing machine serial number Y5827705. Excellent working order. This is a straight stitch machine, that's all it does, there is no reverse or lowering feed dogs. But in return the stitch is perfect, the control is amazing, and it can do very-very-very short stitches without puckering or jamming the material. Due to its slender body, this machine has a large harp space: 8" from the needle to the column with a good height too. So although it is the same size as our modern machines, it offers twice as much harp space - great for your rolled up quilts or any other larger projects. These machines are well known for their superior stitch. They take standard "domestic" 15x1 needles, standard class 66 bobbins (guess where the name comes from), and standard low shank feet, all widely available. I will also supply a scanned copy of the manual as PDF. Darning plates to cover the feed dogs are also very common. The machine comes with a straight stitch foot, a needle and one vintage bobbin to get you started. Please note that this is a treadle head only. It comes with a pair of hinges for building it into a cabinet or a case. Mechanically, the machine is in perfect condition. It has been serviced and runs exceptionally smoothly as it was obviously used a lot, so all parts have adjusted to one another over the years. Cosmetically, it has been refreshed, but I did not try to hide its life history. This is not a new machine, this is an antique machine, which is rather the point. I have cleaned it, removed any rust, refreshed the logo on the front and covered everything with a thin coat of polyurethane varnish. This seals it like in a time capsule, so you can use it as much as you like and the decals will not rub off, plus you can always buff it up with a little silicon polish for that extra reflective finish and shine. Please see the photos for details on cosmetic condition. The machine is heavy as it has steel gears and a cast iron body, hence a high postage price. Note that the machine cannot be insured against damage, only against loss. I will pack it very well of course, but cannot be held responsible for any damage in transit. I am happy to post internationally, but please be aware of the costs and possible import tax in your country. I listed postage for some destinations, please contact me for other countries. You are also welcome to arrange a courier yourself and avoid a 15% fee from eBay and a 5% fee from PayPal (sorry, I cannot be paying that out of my pocket). Parcel dimensions will be 60x45x35cm at 20kg. Pick up from Southampton (Bitterne) would be preferable, you are also welcome to try the machine for yourself before committing to buy. You will not be disappointed! Any questions - please ask. Thank you! Elena
