These are the only high end tenor and plectrum banjo bridge on the market that contain hand-selected, premium rock maple and old-school black ebony - and these use CNC technology for consistency and is 100% make in the USA in a small shop by a veteran owned business.

The wood out of which these banjo bridges are made come from various locations and are carefully salvaged, graded and hand selected for its acoustic properties and responsiveness making these banjo bridges some of the best ever produced.

***The string spacing is 1.325" from the center of the 1st string to the center of the 4th string***

IF YOU REQUIRE A DIFFERENT STRING SPACING, I WILL SELL YOU UN-SLOTTED BRIDGES IF YOU CONTACT ME FIRST.

UNSLOTTED BANJO BRIDGES ARE NOT RETURNABLE ONCE SLOTTED.

Something to consider when selecting the size bridge you need: A lot of modern banjos today are issued with a 5/8" tall, standard tenor string spacing.  There are many other variations, however.  If you already know what is installed on your current banjo, all you need to do is select the height from the drop-down menu when you purchase your bridge.

Standard and Irish tenor banjos use a smaller diameter string.  Plectrum Banjos use  larger diameter string.  When placing your order for a banjo bridge, please select Tenor Banjo or Plectrum Banjo from the drop-down menu.  Some people opt for a tenor banjo bridge for a plectrum banjo and open up the string slots themselves.  Either way will work, depending on your comfort with a small project like that.  Please know that if you alter the bridge it is no longer returnable.   Thank you for understanding.

I recommend either a small metal ruler (never a measuring tape) to carefully measure the height of your bridge, if you don't know what size it is.  Measure from the head of the banjo in the center of the bridge to the top of the ebony cap.  I'd also like to recommend our Dotson Banjo Bridge Ruler if you own a shop and work on or trade a lot of banjos.  You can find those here on eBay as well.  It will allow you to quickly and accurately measure the height and string spacing of common size bridges - these are designed for 5-string banjo bridges, but the height measurements will be the same.  We use them in the shop all the time, and they are quite handy in your case or your own workshop.

I get to work on some of the rarest and most expensive banjos on the planet and I know good tone when I hear it. Some of the same reasons that those old instruments sound so amazing is why these bridges also pump out amazing clarity and evenly distributed power from the lowest growling open 4th string to that screaming punch at the highest fret - without sounding muddy or shrill.

Only hot hide glue is used to attach seasoned ebony tops to the old, hand-selected maple, and if the wood doesn't sound good to me when I was handling it, it got turned into jigs or tossed into the scrap box. I never use curly, birds-eye and other figured maple for my bridges. Only straight-grained, old rock maple. That allows vibrations to transmit more freely. Curl and other anomalies in wood reroute the vibrations and scatter or bounce sound waves and that can pinch the tone of your banjo, in my opinion.

I use CNC technology to produce these bridges and they are as consistent as is possible.

Thank you for looking and please let me know if you have any questions.

My Family and I thank you for your business!

Sincerely,

Richie Dotson
