RARE & Collectable Lens, here for sale is my Leica Leitz Hektor 5cm F/2.5 Lens in Leica L39 Screw Mount produced around the mid 1930's.
Excellent cosmetic condition - very attractive bright dinish. please see images attached).there are areas of light scratching on the outer tube as shown
Mechanically the lens is excellent, focus and aperture movements are good.
Optically the lens is really nice, both front and rear elements are bright & clean. I’m sure If you were to inspect under a strong light you will see some age related marks but they have no effect on actual performance - it's not easy to find a 5cm f/2.5 Hektor in such nice condition at a sensible price.
Vintage lens, particularly fully open at f/2.5. Are amazingly Sharp and are quite amazing for a lens that is now around 90 years old.
The Leitz 50mm (5cm) f2.5 Hektorlens is a legendary Leica lens which was designed by Max Berek in the late 1920ies. He named it after his favourite dog.
The 5cm Hektor lens was the more luxurious 50mm Leica lens available at the time and was much more expensive than the slower standard 5cm f3.5 Elmar lens. The Hektor lenses were both manufactured as a fixed lens mounted on Leica Ia cameras and as a interchangeable M39 mount lens. The Hektor was definitely ahead of its’ time when you consider that many manufacturers still offered f2.8 50mm lenses decades later. Nowadays these gems are highly collectible and well preseved copies of this rare lens command high prices.
