Seller: renham23 (1.320) 100%, Location: Faversham, Ships to: Worldwide, Item: 153775894341 Lower Palaeolithic - Rare UK found chopper. c.500 -700,000 BP. An exceptional, large and very early acheulean pebble chopper. Very much in the 'Oldowan'/ mode 1 typological style. Produced on a large and heavy river gravel pebble. Numerous removals have created a long concave cutting ridge. Very much the sort of tool used for heavy butchery. Probably the handiwork of H.Erectus. With fine banded silver grey ancient patina. An impressive and rar display artifact. Size 10cm by 7cm I've tried to keep the shipping to a minimum, but this is a heavy artifact! From an old collection. Details and provenance supplied Always happy to combine on postage.
