This auction is for a  pair (you get both) of 2007 Orion (Suzhou Synta of China) SkyView Pro 8 hinged tube rings. These are absolutely complete to code and come with the hinge lock assembly hardware.  These rings you see here debuted in fall of 2002 with the unveiling of the all-new SkyView Pro 6 and SkyView Pro 8 equatorial reflectors. Orion never sold these rings individually or in pairs. The only way you could get them was in ordering your SkyView Pro 8 equatorial reflector setup. There were certain years in which the 8-inch and 6-inch optical tubes could be purchased without the mount, but they did not come with their mounting rings. And the last time I knew Orion to sell tube rings as separate purchases was in winter of 2000 when the last of the legendary green Vixen of Japan setups were being offered. So when Orion ousted the SkyView Pro reflectors by January of 2020, the chance for acquiring these rings got a little harder. It is interesting, on a side note, to remember that another famous brand, Konus, was also Synta-manufactured. And their Konusky 200mm, which had these very same rings in the very same hammered finish and with over-sized, thick, chrome-plated clamp bolts was also discontinued forever by 2020.  Because of the design of the threaded locking bolt, in cooperation with the hinged flexibility of the ring, these rings have an adjustable inside diameter between 9.13-inches to 9.32-inches. This means these rings will hold virtually ANY 8-inch metal reflector tube made by a major manufacturer in China, Taiwan, or Japan over the last 40 years. Some very popular reflectors that will fit in these rings: Apertura 8 f/4 Bresser Messier NT-203/800 Orion SkyQuest XT8 (also Intelliscope and Plus) Orion SkyView Pro 8 Orion SkyView Deluxe 8 Hardin Star-HOC 8-4 Sky-Watcher 200N Sky-Watcher 8 Quattro Imaging Newtonian Konus Konusky 200mm Meade LX85 8-inch Reflector Celestron Starsense Explorer 8 Celestron Starhopper 8 (Taiwan variant) Celestron C8N Celestron Advanced VX 8 Saxon Dob 8 Explore Scientific FirstLight 203mm TS-Photon 8 F4 Apertura AD8 Zhumell Z8 Some more exotic telescopes will fit in these rings as well: Vixen VMC-200L Vixen VC200L Vixen R200SS Orion (Vixen) R200SS Orion (Vixen) VC200L                                                                                                                                                                  And, of course, your homemade reflector setup. Just remember, if you are in doubt, measure the diameter of your tube and use the measurements I gave you. These rings will not fit to any Meade, Celestron, or Orion 8-inch cassegrain; they are about 0.30-inches too wide. These rings will not fit to any USA-made 8-inch reflector that is a sonatube or a fiberlite tube; they are much too wide. The underside of these rings has female threads for #1/4-20 hex bolts and will fit in (2) ways:  You can mount them to ANY Vixen or Vixen-clone dovetail plate OR you can mount them directly to the equatorial head top plate (think mounts like the Vixen Super Polaris). Because these will mount to the standard dovetail plate system, you can have these rings on virtually EVERY medium-to-large class equatorial mount; like the AGST, AVX, EQ6, Atlas, Sirius, Sphinx, Atlux, GP-DX, LX85, LXD500, or even CEM70. But there are large ALTAZIMUTH mounts that accept the Vixen dovetail plate as well. You could have an 8-inch reflector on a Vixen APZ, iOptron AZ Mount Pro, Twilight II Altazimuth, or Losmandy AZ8.  Finally, these rings are guide scope compatible and each have #1/4-20 female threads on top for the mounting of guide scope rings. The one ring comes with a #1/4-20 piggyback adapter mount (stock to code), but this piece can be removed so that you can match your guide scope bracket rings. Materials:  cast aluminum, steel hardware, felt strips Weight of each ring:  1 pound 8 ounces This auction ad was completely, organically written by Veradale Mobile Observatory, not an A.I. software device; an actual honest-to-goodness, real human with over 20 years experience with now over 1000 telescopes made from today and all the way back to 1948.
