The distal section has been partially sawn through, probably with a serrated flint knife and then deliberately snapped off forming a robust point. The proximal end has a modified oblique angle, these saw marks are still very clear to see. One face retains some faint cut marks, perhaps initial butchery cut marks prior to modification? The opposing face is very shiny and smooth, this maybe as a result of usage wear? It is in an exceptional condition. Length: 100 mm Width: 40 mm c 40,000 - 10,000 years bp From an old British collection, provenance details supplied with the sale. Found Kent. Provenance: Ownership History Available, Type: Awl/point, Material: Bone
