Victorian Burr Walnut box c. 1870, with lovely mother of pearl cartouche, escutcheon and banners.  The box comes complete with a locking key.  The interior has been relined. There is a crack in the veneer on the back of the box (see photograph nine) and a tiny piece of stringing missing on the left hand side front (see photograph eleven). There is a small  imperfection on the lid which may be a knot in the wood, fortunately it blends in quite well with the burr walnut patterning (see photograph five). This is a really lovely box in good condition for it's age and it is a beautiful display piece. Approx. 27.3 cm (10 3/4") long x 19.7 cm (7 3/4") wide x 12.2 cm (5") high.
